Frequently Asked Questions
Blockchain-verified electronic signatures for $1 per envelope — no subscription. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most.
Pricing
How much does OnChainESign cost?
OnChainESign costs $1 per e-sign envelope. There are no monthly subscriptions, no per-user seats, and no hidden fees. An optional Biometric Signer Check adds $1 per signer.
Is there a $1 electronic signature platform?
Yes. OnChainESign is a pay-per-envelope e-signature platform that charges just $1 per envelope with no subscription. Most e-signature tools (DocuSign, Dropbox Sign, Adobe Acrobat Sign) charge $15–$45 per month whether you send one document or fifty.
What is the cheapest way to sign documents online?
For occasional signers, pay-per-use pricing is usually cheaper than a monthly subscription. OnChainESign charges $1 per envelope with no minimum and no monthly commitment, so if you send five documents in a year you pay about $5 — versus $180+ per year for a typical subscription plan.
Do I need a subscription or credit card to start?
No. There is no subscription and nothing to cancel. Create an account for free, then pay just $1 per envelope when you send — by PayPal or crypto.
Legality
Are OnChainESign signatures legally binding?
Yes. Electronic signatures created on OnChainESign are designed to comply with the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, the EU eIDAS Regulation, the UK Electronic Communications Act 2000, and e-signature laws recognized in 50+ countries. Legal treatment ultimately depends on your jurisdiction, document type, and consent process, so consult legal counsel for regulated workflows.
How is my signature proven if there is a dispute?
Every completed envelope produces a Certificate of Completion recording the signer, timestamps, email trail, and a cryptographic fingerprint (hash) of the final document. That hash is also written to the Solana blockchain, giving you an independent, publicly verifiable record that the document existed in that exact form at that exact time.
Blockchain
What is blockchain-verified e-signing?
Blockchain-verified e-signing means a unique cryptographic hash of your signed document is permanently recorded on a public blockchain. On OnChainESign that ledger is Solana. Anyone can later re-hash the document and confirm it matches the on-chain record, proving the file has not been altered since signing — without trusting any single company’s servers.
Why does OnChainESign use the Solana blockchain?
Solana offers fast, low-cost transactions, which lets OnChainESign anchor every signature on-chain affordably enough to keep envelopes at $1. The document itself is never stored on the blockchain — only its fingerprint — so your content stays private while the proof stays public and permanent.
Is my document stored on the blockchain?
No. The document itself never goes on the blockchain — the signature is what’s verifiable on-chain. A one-way cryptographic hash (a digital fingerprint) of the signed document is written to Solana. Your agreement stays confidential, while the fact that it was signed — and hasn’t been changed since — is publicly verifiable by anyone who has the original file.
Biometric ID
What is the Biometric Signer Check?
The Biometric Signer Check is an optional $1 add-on that raises identity assurance. The signer photographs their government-issued ID and takes a live selfie; the system reads the name on the ID and matches the face to the selfie. It is designed to provide stronger signer verification than an unverified click alone.
Is the biometric verification private?
The face-match and ID reading are processed in the signer’s own browser session as part of the signing workflow. OnChainESign is built to confirm identity for the signing event rather than to build a biometric database. Review the privacy details for your specific use case before enabling it for regulated documents.
Real Estate & Title
How can I verify a remote seller before they sign?
Enable the optional Biometric Signer Check for the envelope. The seller photographs a government-issued ID and takes a live selfie so the system can read the ID name and compare the face to the selfie. This adds identity evidence to the signing event, but it does not replace a title company’s fraud controls, legal review, or notarization when those are required.
Can multiple buyers, sellers, agents, or title representatives sign the same packet?
Yes. You can add multiple signers, assign each person only the signature, initials, date, and text fields meant for them, and set a signing order. The first signer receives the invitation immediately, and each later signer is invited automatically after the prior signer completes their part.
Can I send a full real estate or closing packet in one envelope?
Yes. You can upload multiple PDF files together and send them as one envelope. Each signer completes every assigned document in a single signing session, which is useful for contracts, disclosures, addenda, and title forms that belong to the same transaction.
Do buyers or sellers need an account or app to sign?
No. Signers receive a secure email link and complete their assigned fields in a modern web browser. They do not need to create an OnChainESign account or install software, and the signing experience works on phones, tablets, and computers.
Can I place signatures, initials, dates, and text on real estate forms?
Yes. The document-preparation screen supports signature, initials, date, and text fields. The sender places each field on the appropriate PDF page and assigns it to the correct signer before sending the envelope.
What proof does a title company receive after everyone signs?
The completed package includes the signed documents and a Certificate of Completion with signer details, timestamps, the email trail, and the final document’s cryptographic fingerprint. The fingerprint is anchored to Solana so the exact completed file can be checked against an independent on-chain record.
Can OnChainESign show whether a signed closing document was changed later?
Yes. OnChainESign creates a cryptographic hash of the completed document and records that fingerprint on Solana. If the file is changed later, even slightly, its new hash will not match the recorded fingerprint, providing a clear integrity check.
Is checkout easy for occasional real estate transactions?
Yes. OnChainESign uses simple pay-per-envelope pricing and secure PayPal checkout, so occasional users can pay when they need to send a package instead of managing a recurring subscription. The payment step is completed before the paid envelope is prepared and sent.
Can a signer complete a real estate package from a phone?
Yes. The signing flow is mobile-friendly and runs in the browser, so a buyer or seller can review and complete assigned fields from a phone without downloading an app. A stable internet connection and a modern browser are recommended, especially when using the Biometric Signer Check.
Does an electronic signature replace notarization or title-company verification?
No. An electronic signature records consent and intent, while notarization and title-company identity or underwriting procedures serve different legal and risk-control purposes. If a document must be notarized, witnessed, or handled under a title company’s specific process, those requirements still apply.
Comparison
How does OnChainESign compare to DocuSign or HelloSign?
Traditional platforms like DocuSign and Dropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign) charge $15–$45 per month and store signing records only on their own servers. OnChainESign charges $1 per envelope with no subscription and additionally anchors every signature on the Solana blockchain for a permanent, publicly verifiable proof. It is a strong fit for occasional senders who want transparent pricing plus an independent record.
Who is OnChainESign best for?
OnChainESign fits freelancers, consultants, small businesses, and real estate professionals who sign documents occasionally, want simple per-envelope pricing, and value an independent blockchain record. It is also well suited to anyone who wants identity-aware signing without committing to an annual contract.
Getting started
How do I send a document for signature?
Create a free account, upload your PDF, drag signature and text fields onto the pages, add your signers’ email addresses, and send. Signers receive a secure link, sign from any device, and everyone gets the completed document plus a Certificate of Completion. Setup takes about 60 seconds.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. OnChainESign works in any modern mobile browser and can be installed to your home screen as an app (PWA). Both sending and signing are fully mobile-friendly, so signers can complete documents from a phone without downloading anything.
